The Paradise of Elephants
The Paradise of Elephants
Tarangire National Park is best known for its dense population of elephants. These magnificent animals can be seen throughout the year, but they are especially numerous during the dry season, from July to November. During this period, zebra, wildebeest, and other wildlife from the greater Tarangire migratory ecosystem gather within the park, drawn to the Tarangire River, which serves as the only reliable source of water for many miles around.

Getting there
Tarangire National Park is accessible both by road and by air.
By Road: The park lies approximately 121 kilometers from Arusha and is reached via a fully tarmacked road.
By Air: Visitors can fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport, located about 46 kilometers from Arusha. Chartered flights are also available from Arusha directly to Kuro Airstrip, which is situated within the park.
Activities
Game drives in Tarangire National Park are especially rewarding during the dry season and offer memorable wildlife encounters throughout the day. The early morning and late afternoon hours are ideal for spotting predators, while the midday heat provides excellent opportunities to watch large herds of elephants gathering at water sources to drink.
For a completely different perspective, night drives reveal the park’s nocturnal wildlife under the beam of a spotlight. However, for those seeking a deeper connection with the wilderness, a guided walking safari offers the most immersive experience. Accompanied by an armed ranger for safety, this activity allows you to explore the landscape up close and truly appreciate the sights, sounds, and scents of the African bush.
“Our trip was unforgettable. As first-time visitors to Africa on safari, my son and I had a wonderful experience. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish and the excellent communication helped us prepare well—even down to buying the right binoculars.”

Best Time To Visit
Tarangire National Park is a seasonal park, with wildlife viewing at its best between July and November.
